The winemaker

The Producer

The 47-hectare estate has been run by the Pagès family since 1970. Bought in 2019 by Gérard Jicquel, Château Fourcas Dupré retains its philosophy, committed to careful work, traditional skills and a passion for excellent Bordeaux wines.
The environmentally friendly practices implemented for several years at Château Fourcas have been rewarded with the HVE label in 2019. Drastic reduction of treatments, mechanical weeding, use of organic fertilizer, everything is implemented to promote biodiversity and soil life.

The estate

The single vineyard stretches across the Médoc peninsula, on the Fourcas plateau. It is an exceptional terroir, ideal for growing vines. The entirety of the property's land is classified as AOC.
The vineyard is planted close to the forest and the wind from the plateau, combined with good natural drainage, helps to temper a sometimes excessive climate. This allows the grapes to mature slowly and gain in quality. The soil is mostly made up of Pyrenean gravel, with clayey, chalky and clayey subsoils.
This is an exceptional terroir, unique in the Médoc, and it gives the château's wines a very characteristic singular expression, with a beautiful complexity, minerality, smoky notes and an excellent ageing potential.
The facilities benefit from regular renovations, allowing the teams to produce exceptional wines in optimal conditions. The best innovations have been installed at Chateau Fourcas Dupré, notably in the vinification vat, but the old installations have also been preserved. The ageing cellars still offer excellent conditions for maturing the estate's wines and the old vat house has been preserved to offer visitors an image of the origins of the estate.

The wines

Château Fourcas Dupré red 2017 is made from a blend of 52% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. This is a particularly successful vintage, with elegance and a beautiful aromatic palette. It is a perfect wine to accompany aged cheeses or grilled meats.

The Tout Simplement Cuvée is blended with equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This supple wine is ideal as an aperitif or with a barbecue with friends.

Chateau Fourcas Dupré Grand Vin Blanc 2018 is a dry white wine, produced from two parcels at opposite ends of the vineyard, one of Semillon and the other of Sauvignon Blanc. The nose offers aromas of citrus, hawthorn, gray pepper and tarragon. It is an elegant wine, both fine and powerful with a dynamic and fruity aromatic bouquet. The finish is persistent with peppery and slightly toasted notes.
