(38 customer reviews)
Situated on the oldest Bordeaux wine terroir, Château Malartic-Lagravière, one of only six Bordeaux wines classified in white and red. It was bought in 1997 by the Bonnie family. History The domain Lagravière has always been known for the quality of its soil and its famous severe croup. This is in honor of Count Hippolyte of Malartic, admiral in the service of the kings of France and owner of the field in the eighteenth century, the castle was renamed Malartic Lagravière. Château Malartic-Lagravière is located on a high terrace deeply cut by the stream of White Water and its tributaries. It consists of 8 meters deep with gravel islands dating from the Quaternary period. If bass layer realizes an excellent drainage surface, the shelly limestone basement, composed of fossils from the warm seas and clay veins, retains an important water reserve. It ensures perfect water supply of the vine, even during the most severe droughts. High permeability soil, a sunny climate, reduced susceptibility to weather variations are eminently favorable factors. Find out more
