In Burgundy, the word charme refers to former common fields that were cultivated and then returned to a state of fallow land. But it can also refer to the place where charmes, a type of tree, once grew. The soil of charmes-chambertin is supple, a little sandier than that of neighboring soils. In the end, charmes live up to their name: they are approachable and charming even in their prime. Their tannic structure is rather light, resulting in supple wines with good evolutionary potential. 2021 is no exception. A wine of incredibly silky fruit and exceptional tannin finesse, it demonstrates the savoir-faire of one of the greatest estates on the Côte de Nuits. 100% pinot noir. Only 5200 bottles per year. Keeps for at least 20 years.
