The winemaker

The history of the Jean-Claude Boisset house

The house of Jean-Claude Boisset was born in 1961, when Claudine and Jean-Claude Boisset met in Gevrey Chambertin. Jean-Claude was then 18 years old.

From 1970, the wines of the house Jean-Claude Boisset are exported in Europe. The company moved to Vougeot, then to Nuits Saint Georges where it still remains today. From the 1980s, the house diversified and also produced spirits (in 1988), as well as sparkling wines on the eve of the 1990s.

Since then, the house of Jean-Claude Boisset has expanded its scope with new terroirs: Beaujolais, Languedoc, Rhone and Jura, with the takeover of the historic domain - and the largest in the department - Maire & Fils. The second generation of the Jean-Claude Boisset family has taken over the running of the estate and it is Nathalie and Jean-Charles Boisset who now manage the estate. They work in close collaboration with a young Burgundian, Grégory Patriat, who is in charge of making the wines.

The Jean-Claude Boisset winery is located in the historic Ursulines building. Dating back to the 17th century, the building offers the best conditions for the maturing of the wine. It was built taking into account its orientation to the sun, the position of the stars and the cycles of the moon.
