The Patrick Boivin house celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2018. It is located in Épernay, the capital of Champagne. The estate is now run by Marie-Madeleine and Patrick accompanied by their two daughters, Baptistine and Céline.
A FAMILY HISTORY
At the beginning of the Patrick Boivin house, there was a couple formed by Marie-Madeleine and Patrick. She, the granddaughter of a winegrower from Cumières, and he, the boy from Paris, are going to realise a dream by laying the first stones of the company and developing it. Today, they are gradually handing over to their daughters, Céline and Baptistine, two daughters, two characteristics, two visions of Champagne. The first one works more around the land and the production while the second one works more in the commercial field.
THE MAIN FIGURES
The vineyards of Champagne Patrick Boivin cover six hectares mainly spread out in the Marne Valley, on the southern slopes of Épernay, in parcels classified as premier cru. There are also vines in the villages of Pierry, Cumières, Brugny-Vaudancourt and Damery.
The annual production of the house is 50,000 bottles, 40% of which are destined for export to the European Union.
The house produces nine cuvées: Brut, Reserve, Rosé and two vintage Blanc de Blancs. These champagnes have a long ageing period (3 years for the Cuvée Brut, 5 years for the Cuvée Réserve, 10 years for the vintage cuvées)
The vines of the house grow on south facing soils. The soil is calcareous clay with a marly tendency, which allows good drainage of water and mineral salts, necessary for the good development of the grape varieties. These soils provide an exceptional typicity: minerality and roundness.
In late 2019, the release of a special cuvée from a closed area around the family home. The planting of the vines on this plot took place in 2006. The cuvée will be available in limited production per year and per vintage!
