The terres blanches are alternating layers (3 to 4m) of heavy, late-maturing clays with layers (0.5 to 1m) of fossilized oysters. This terroir, very rich in shell fossils, is located on the westernmost hills of the appellation, on some hillside ridges and in the large hillsides. This soil gives the wine high aromatic concentration, tension and longevity.
