The winemaker

The history of Domaine Beauvence

Frank Loubaresse, then in finance, and his wife decided to change their lives. When they spotted this imposing oak dominating the estate, it was an obvious choice: in 2018, they bought the thirty hectares of Domaine de Beauvence and made this oak the emblem of their estate. The Domaine is full of charm, as is the commune that shelters it: a small village perched on a promontory, valleys covered with vines and olive trees.

Here, the environment is soothing: no noise or visual nuisance, a privileged natural site. The couple are implementing new farming practices. Their aim is to produce organic wines by 2021. Whether it's their wines or their olive oils, the care given to their production is meticulous and rigorous. Everything is done with respect for nature.

The terroir of Domaine Beauvenc

Altitude guarantees cool nights, which means the grapes ripen later and the wines are finer. Altitude also means that certain pests, such as the olive fruit fly, are naturally kept at bay. The estate is located in a very sunny region where rainfall is rare. Fortunately, the clay soils store water and redistribute it naturally in hot weather. As the slopes are gently sloping, the air circulates very well, preventing frost and limiting mildew.

The plots are surrounded by a variety of trees and woods, ensuring biodiversity for wildlife. Biodiversity has been further enhanced by the installation of beehives and three thousand lavender plants. At Domaine Beauvence, "we let the micro-fauna do its work". No chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used. The quality of the soil is improved by leaving the prunings from the vines and olive trees on the ground. The watchword here is authenticity to guarantee taste and quality.

The wines of Domaine Beauvence

The Domaine produces rosé, red and white wines. Blends are made from six grape varieties: Roll, Grenache Noir, Cinsaut, Ugni Blanc, Roussanne and Syrah. The grapes are harvested by hand, and most of the vinification is carried out in barrels. The Domaine offers three cuvées:

- Cuvée l'Aparté, this Méditerrannée red is a blend of Grenache Noir and Syrah, revealing spicy notes of black fruit.
- Cuvée l'Originelle, a rosé wine made from a unique blend of Ugni Blanc and Grenache Noir, reveals aromas of red fruits and hints of garrigue.
- Cuvée la Didascalie, VIn de Pays made from Ugni Blanc is a fine balance of freshness and liveliness.

Certified organic by Qualisud and AOP Haute-Provence, the estate's fruity and fruity ripe olive oils are cold-pressed from olives grown in the olive orchard.
