The winemaker

Serra Ferdinandea is a mountainous region, whose name combines the Sicilian dialect term serre with the history of the island of Ferdinandea, located between Sicily and the island of Pantelleria to the southwest. Serra Ferdinandea is a dream born in Sicily. Those who know Sicily and France cannot ignore the historical and cultural links that unite them, from the Norman kings to Sciascia, via Voltaire. Winegrowing has also benefited from these exchanges of techniques and grape varieties. Our project aims to renew this link: in addition to an in-depth knowledge of the island's winegrowing and oenological tradition, there is a decisive French influence thanks to the shared vision of two families, the Planeta family from Sicily and the Oddo family from France. Based on sharing and complementarity, friendship and passion, this entrepreneurial challenge is an extension of that dream. Nestled in a typical Mediterranean landscape, the Serra Ferdinandea estate overlooks the sea where the island of the same name appeared in 1831. If France and Italy once fought to claim it as their own, these wines made from complementary grape varieties illustrate the union of these two cultures, within the project supported by the Oddo and Planeta families.
