The winemaker

Vini Noue Marinic is the fruit of the marriage of Burgundy and Slovenia, located just 3 km from the Italian border and 7 km from Gorizia. We are delighted to have won Decanter's bronze medal with 87 points for our Erigone Cuvée Rosé for our first 2019 vintage. On my family's side (I'm a partner in Domaine Leflaive), we have a long winemaking tradition in Burgundy, particularly in white wine, so I was looking for a place with a fantastic terroir capable of producing wines for ageing. I found it in Brda, with its long winemaking tradition. It was the wine of the Austrian court and of Empress Marie-Thérèse, who made the first wine classification in 1787, well before Bordeaux in 1855. This classification has 9 classes, our vineyard has 50 ha and all our climats are classified from 1 to 4, 1 being the best classification. Our aim, with my Slovenian partner Alis Marinic, is to produce elegant, long-lasting wines as we have done in Burgundy. We cultivate our vineyards in a traditional, natural way, which means we use very few treatments, work the soil and let the herbs grow in the vines in summer to maintain humidity in the vineyard. We already follow Steiner's ideas and philosophy. Our wines have a low sulfite content of under 40. Our goal is to be certified biodynamic with Demeter, so we're applying for organic certification. In our region we have a lot of wind called bora (we're between the Julian Alps at 30km and the sea at Trieste at 40km), so very few diseases. Our oenologist is Anthony Colas who makes wines for Domaine Roulot, Rousseau, Faivelay and shares this philosophy of making the good wine you need from fantastic grapes and helps to choose the right moment for "Vendanges", everything else is to follow the wine with the minimum of action to keep authenticity and freshness to get body, elegance. A persistent wine capable of creating a vibration, an emotion. A wine you want to drink again after the first glass!
