The winemaker

Join Elisabeth and Slanie de Pontac to discover this magnificent estate, which has been following the history of Bordeaux wines for over 400 years.
The vineyards of Château Peychaud are a true testament to what was once a great vineyard at the gateway to Bordeaux. Situated on gravel and Garonne alluvium, the three main Bordeaux grape varieties planted at Peychaud evolve on a variety of soils that give the wines remarkable complexity and fruit expression. Our aim is to produce pleasant, structured, fruity wines, with a focus on balance and the expression of the Peychaud terroir.

IN A FEW WORDS, CHÂTEAU PEYCHAUD IS:

- a little story within a big story,
when, over 400 years ago, our ancestor the Marquis de Fayet, secretary to King Henri IV and member of the Bordeaux Parliament, founded the Peychaud estate. His grandson undertook the construction of the château in 1630, strategically located midway between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. At the time, it was a vast polycultural estate, predominantly devoted to winegrowing.

- a feminine continuity,
with the arrival in 2010 of Slanie and Elisabeth de Pontac, who bring precision, rigor and innovation. "I'm both the memory of a heritage and driven by a tenacious desire to make Peychaud and its wines live and love! "Elisabeth.

- a gravelly terroir, typical 'Cabernet' character,
In the heart of the Presqu'Ile, on the superb gravel terroir of Ambarès-et-Lagrave, the 30 hectares of vines are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc for the reds, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon for the whites.

- authentic, enjoyable and accessible wines:
We offer a range of red, rosé and white wines from the everyday to excellence. Balance, elegance and respect for the fruit are our priorities. Our wines are regularly rewarded with excellent scores or press reviews.

- a label as blue as the sea :
dating back over 150 years, a tribute to the sea from our great-great (and still great-great!) grandfather, Admiral d'Hornoy, Minister of the French Navy.

- reasoned innovations :
Consistency in the quality of our wines is a frequent feedback from our customers. This means paying attention to detail and listening to what has gone before us. We combine this demand with constant innovation: new mechanical equipment in the vineyard, a system for capturing CO2 from fermentations in the winery, new cuvées, partnerships with wine start-ups, and so on.

- preserving natural biodiversity :
Our vineyards are surrounded by 25 hectares of woodland with century-old species, a park, fields of flowers, fruit trees and a marsh. Thirty beehives produce acacia, lime and blackberry honey.

- a unique location 20 minutes from Bordeaux
We welcome visitors and like to share a story, a family, an environment, an architecture, a place around our wines. Come and see us!
