In a few words ...
Cuvée Thélème comes from vines planted on the hillside overlooking the valley. The terroir is essentially clay-limestone: the vines draw their resources directly from the chalky rock known locally as tuffeau. This rock is present at depths of 15 to 20 cm. The wines are powerful and colorful. While they may be a little austere in the early years, they are highly enjoyable from 5 to 6 years of age, and age very well beyond that. Yield: 38 to 45 hl/hectare (depending on vintage) Alcohol content: 12%/vol to 13.5%/vol (depending on vintage) Vinification: Total destemming 5 to 6 weeks maceration with daily pumping-over and fermentation with the grapes' indigenous yeasts. Ageing: stainless steel vats Presentation: "Ducasse" bottle, antique tint, black cap with gold rim
