The winemaker

Domaine Adrien Berlioz (formerly Cellier des Cray) began in 2006 with 1.5 hectares of vines belonging to Adrien's father, Joseph. After a number of land purchases and a few years of work, by 2020, the garden had grown to 7 hectares. There are 17 parcel wines made from Jacquère, Altesse, Malvoisie and Bergeron for the whites, and Mondeuse Noire, Persan and Douce Noire for the reds. reds. Marl, moraine, scree, silt and schist deserve their own expression in each cuvée, depending on altitude, exposure, soil/subsoil, wind... The slope is our playground. All our wines will be Demeter-certified in 2020, except for recent rentals in conversion (Ecocert certification began Ecocert certification in 2009). The wines are produced exclusively on the estate. Manual labor takes precedence over simplicity and energy. Pickaxes, animal traction, winches, preparatory work punctuate the estate's vineyards. It deliberately produces around 40 hl/ha (planting density density: 8,000 vines/ha). Adrien's partner is a beekeeper, so everything is done to preserve an environment based on an unstable equilibrium.
