The company was founded in 1889 by John Francis Brown who, at the age of 18, established a winery in Milawa, north of Victoria, where now the Brown Brothers Winery. It is under the direction of his son, John Charles Brown, Brown Brothers has established its reputation of producer wishing to try out innovative varieties. As First Families of Wine key member in Australia, the third and fourth generations of the family carry on the tradition with over 60 different wines available for tasting. The Brown family is proud to have gained a reputation locally and abroad, as a specialist in innovative varietal wine and winemaking. Over the years, we have seen many changes in the Australian wine industry, but the cornerstones of Brown Brothers remain constant.
