The choice was deliberate to create a contemporary, accessible Cabernet Shiraz that could be drunk before its elder sibling Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz. Bin 8 has been designed in the traditional Penfolds style. Balanced, ripe fruit aromas are supported by gently integrated oak, resulting in a smooth, silky red wine. This wine was produced in response to interest in the Cabernet Shiraz blend. A classic Australian wine style that has attracted international media attention. Bin numbers are originally given according to bottling location. Bin 8 uses the oldest oak, previously used for Bin 128 Bin 28 and Bin 389.After a dry South Australian winter, vines were short of water in early spring. Bud-break was early in many areas, and wind during flowering was partly responsible for lower-than-average yields. Warm days in October, November and early January contributed to an early start to the 2013 harvest. The harvest was short and condensed. With the hot, dry weather, Shiraz and Cabernet developed strong, structural tannins with great intensity and pleasant flavor.

Appearance
A deep Magenta Red color.
Aroma
A first impression of dark fruit and chocolate, accompanied by spices - cinnamon, vanilla and cola. This is followed by aromas of Worcestershire sauce / smoked bacon / beef broth. Finally, there are hints of brioche toast.
