In the heart of the Bergerac vineyards, Monbazillac benefits from a microclimate that favors the development of botrytis, the noble rot. The terroir brings intense aromas and a powerful structure to these sweet and syrupy wines.
1995 was a very fine summer. In September, however, producers thought it would be a repeat of 1994. Rain arrived on the 7th, but it was sparse and concentrated, so there was no dilution effect, especially as the vines were suffering from drought. Fine weather returned on September 17.
