Haut Médoc is located upstream from the Gironde estuary. The gravelly composition of the soil encourages the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are concentrated and tannic, requiring at least 6 months of ageing. In its youth, the nose offers aromas of red and black fruits, evolving towards spices and vanilla to a greater or lesser extent with ageing. Haut-Médoc is a great wine for laying down.
The 1983 vintage was a curious year, with a roller-coaster weather pattern. The evolution of the reds over time was similar. They can still provide a great deal of pleasure. The red wines are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives them finesse and length on the palate. These wines can still be enjoyed today.
