The chateau tour haut vineyard covers an area of 18 hectares planted with 69% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot, 4% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot.
saint estèphe wines are the most tannic of the medoc. Dressed in garnet red, they remain closed on the palate for a long time, only to explode when they reach maturity.
The 1994 vintage would have been a great year had it not been for the September rains, which prevented full maturity. The reds are well-structured, more tannic than the 1993s, but sometimes a little dry. The earlier-ripening Merlot ripened better than the Cabernet Sauvignon, so the Right Bank is at an advantage.
