domaine des 3 saules is a small, quality aoc bergerac winery created in 2015 out of françois laborie's desire to return to his native region and put to good use the years of viticultural experience he had accumulated in france and abroad. Very attached to the environment, he immediately converted his vineyards to organic farming. His vineyard covers just 6 hectares, his aim being to work as much as possible by hand and obtain the best possible quality. The terroir is essentially clay, with sandy-silty variations at the foot of the slopes and more chalky at the top of the village. This variety of soils results in dense, richly fruity wines, but always with finesse and freshness. All parcels are located in the commune of villefranche de lonchat, a charming bastide at the western end of the bergerac appellation, close to the gironde river. organic farming was a logical extension of the project. In the vineyard, this means the re-introduction of natural or sown grass cover, shallow tillage to aerate the soil and prevent weeds from competing too fiercely with the vines, and the use of organic fertilizers.
