In a few words ...

More supple and less complex than the villages and crus, Burgundies offer the aromas of their grape variety, with nuances linked to their origins. White Burgundy offers flinty, mushroomy aromas in the northern part of the appellation. As it descends in the south, it evolves towards honey, hazelnut and spices, finishing with tones of white flowers and flint. On the palate, this is an aromatic wine, fine without being light, with little structure but persistent.
The 1998 vintage was very good. The dry, warm climate enabled the grapes to ripen beautifully, with thick skins that saved them from the September rains. The great wines are complex, elegant and fine. The St Emilions and Pomerols produced velvety, powerful wines, while the Margaux and Graves were more focused on fruit and finesse.
