After three years of low rainfall, the winter of 83/84 was marked by cold, wet conditions that continued into spring and late summer, alternating with sunny spells. This persistent humidity had an influence on the development of the vines, starting with flowering, which was delayed from spring onwards. Although it took until the end of September to get rid of the rain, the scorching heat that then settled over the whole region meant that the harvest was launched in very favorable conditions - which changed the situation considerably. The bunches were well formed and generally disease-free, but the grapes lacked a little sugar. Then, halfway through the 1984 harvest, the Douro Valley, like the rest of Portugal, experienced three days of cyclone-like disturbances that interrupted the harvest and slowed the accumulation of sugars. Once the storms had passed, harvesting resumed under ideal weather conditions, with alternating sunny days and cool nights.

Massive depth and structure for this perfectly mastered, harmonious and balanced Port, whose exquisite alliance of tannins and wild black berry flavors enchants our taste buds and leaves them panting with desire! A very fine wine.
