The winemaker

Located in the town of Calvi, the vineyard covers 15 hectares. The main grape varieties are Vermentinu Niellucciu, Grenache and Syrah. The soil is composed of granitic hillside which gives a perfect sunshine and an efficient drainage. Richard Spurr, the winemaker, deep restructuring the vineyard. Since 2008 he has made three disposals tear and replacement of old vines. The entire field is planted in "cup" which limits the mechanization of work. In the context of sustainable agriculture, phytosanitary treatments are limited to products of sulfur and completely exclude pesticides and herbicides. All the work processing is done at night to minimize the dispersal during application. All the work of harvesting is done by night and manually to respect the rule of clusters and the freshness of the beans. According to the winemaker: "Every practice, every step of winemaking from the vine to the glass is thinking in respect of the expression of the vineyard, nature and health consumer ". The range consists of three references (one per color) and the production capacity is limited to 30,000 bottles. The low yields of the vine due to strict size are the result of extensive qualitative research. All production of the Enclos des Anges is part of AOC Calvi. The special wine-making method that performs Richard gives these wines an unusual side that challenges and makes its production among all recognizable. It is one of the few winemakers in Corsica to work its wines on the lees in concrete tanks on farms of such long cycles.
