The small wine cooperative les coteaux de fournès is located on the outskirts of the idyllic village of 900 souls, in the heart of the canton of remoulins. The village is well known for the diversity of its soils. Millions of years ago, the Rhone still flowed here, leaving a rich legacy in the clay soil, sediments and minerals that give the wine its strength. Large pebbles remain from the Ice Age. They store the sun's heat and release it at night, which has a very positive effect on grape ripening. In addition to the many hours of sunshine, there's also a strong north-westerly wind here, the mistral. This ensures rapid drying of the grapes, which explains why the cooperative is virtually free of fungal diseases.Bois de brignon grapes grow on coarse gravel soil in the vineyard of the same name. Bois means "small forest" and is derived from an earlier situation where there was a small oak grove. Today, a single oak still stands proudly in the vineyard. The appellation Côtes-du-Rhône is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Les Coteaux de Fournès and its 1 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
