The history of the Roques de Cana goes back more than 2000 years, after the Roman invasion of Gaul. Cahors is linked to Christian history.
In fact, the wine of Mass of the Orthodox Church for 800 years, its grape variety, Malbec, is believed to have sacred origins. The village of "Les Roques" evokes, by its name, the Woman of the Apocalypse, protected by the rock of the river of water spit by a dragon according to the scriptures.
The terroir of the Roques, clay and limestone, is considered to be one of the richest of all the vineyards in the world. At low yields, a fine and mineral expression is obtained. Malbec had the reputation of producing the greatest wines during the lifetime of Jesus Christ. Its colour is dark and intense like any self-respecting "black wine" and its ageing potential is astonishing.
