The affable and distinguished Karl Von Schubert offers refined Rieslings with the inimitable elegance of the Ruwer slate terroirs. Racy, thirst-quenching and civilized. The "Superior" wine, a dry wine that has been fermented to completion, is breathtaking. The grapes harvested in this vineyard were originally destined for the table of the Abbey of St. Maximin. The site covers 14 hectares, some of which have been planted for over a thousand years. The subsoil is slate blue and the hillside faces south-east to south-west. Abtsberg wines are characterized by finely structured minerality, racy acidity, generous fruitiness and great delicacy. They are among the longest-lived Rieslings in the region.
