The royal estate of Jarras, planted with vines as early as the 11th century, was lovingly described by astruc, the king's historian. Centuries passed and the vineyard grew. At the end of the 19th century, only the vines planted in the sands were able to escape the phylloxera pest that destroyed vines all over France. Fortunately, the destructive insect was unable to penetrate the sands. In the Camargue, the estate's vineyards stretch along the sandy shores of the Mediterranean Sea. The coastline is made up of coastal strips built up over the centuries from sandy sediments transported by the Rhone and then picked up by sea and wind currents. The unique texture of the soil spared the Camargue sandy vineyards from the phylloxera invasion of the 1860s. New plots were planted in long, straight rows with wide spacing (sheltered from the sea wind and sea spray if necessary), enabling the use of new machinery, making cultivation easier. Of all operations, harvesting remained the most difficult to mechanize. In 1965, research led to the development of a "conveyor belt".
Gris de Gris, ce vin est produit à partir de raisins à la peau noire et à la chair blanche, le vin gris possède la particularité de résulter d'un pressurage direct, avec un temps de macération très court (quelques heures). Cela donne un bel aromatique, tout en élégance.
