In a few words ...
It was in 1997 that this grand cru classé in the Saint-Julien appellation, of great lineage, was acquired by the Merlaut family. Château Gruaud-Larose has a 300-year tradition of excellence in winegrowing, and cannot deny its legendary finesse. This "wine of kings and king of wines", according to the house motto, is the fruit of a passionate dedication to shaping nectars with floral fragrances (Larose) and the inimitable minerality of Graves (Gruaud). "While its ruby-red color may seem rather light, this Saint Julien is a wine of real character. Well-balanced between grape and stave, the bouquet combines notes of black and red fruits with a fine spicy woodiness. The palate is ample and full-bodied, with a fine yet solid tannic structure. A fine expression of terroir and vintage."

Dense, dark garnet color, drawing on purple in its youth.
Aroma
The nose reveals notes of violet and empyreumatic like wood, roasting, vanilla ... In aging, the wine will reveal very high quality game or truffle aromas.

The wines of Saint-Julien are famous for mixing the feminine finesse of Margaux wines with the strength of Pauillac wines. We will find therefore structured tannins with a note of black fruits important that will give an interesting overall balance.
