The winemaker
Quercia Al Poggio is located in Barberino Val d'Elsa, nestled between Florence and Siena. The former property of Rossi sits on a hill surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. Like its famous neighbors (Chianti Classico, Isola e Olena), its soil is soaked with calcareous chalk. The area of 100 hectares and is guarded by Michela Vottorio since 1997. The vintners have begun to redevelop the vineyard replanting and upgrading. Their goal is to promote the expression of local indigenous grape varieties such as Sangionvese.
