Since settling in the pic saint-loup area in 1995, christophe peyrus and françoise julien have carried out a steady stream of experiments, essential to grasping all the nuances of their terroirs. Work in the vineyard has enhanced the finesse of the estate's reds. Ambitious styling and judicious risk-taking have resulted in a level of quality that far exceeds Languedoc standards. Individual aromatic nuances are now added to cuvées simon and les glorieuses, which have the ageing potential and silhouette of the great Rhône wines, without apetizing them. Cuvée les glorieuses du clos marie is a magnificent dark garnet-red color. The nose is subtle, revealing beautiful notes of ripe black fruit (blueberry, blackcurrant), undergrowth and spices. Pinot! The palate is suave and fleshy, with well-melted tannins. The finish is long, racy, powerful and incredibly fresh for a wine from this region. A great wine for ageing and gastronomy.
