The wine estate was founded in 1834 on the Hermitage hill (Tain l'Hermitage). After its takeover in 2006 by the Frey family, it has been able to preserve its authenticity and continue the production of prestigious vintages, such as La Chapelle, considered as one of the greatest wines in the world, and La Petite Chapelle, now called Maison Bleue.
Today, the Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné is managed by Caroline Frey, a passionate and talented oenologist and winemaker.
