The winemaker

The property was acquired in 1997 by Christopher Cannan (founder of Europvin Corporation based in Bordeaux) and his wife Charlotte, on the recommendation of René Barbier (Clos Mogador). Clos Figueras has a vineyard planted on shale famous "Llicorella" of the town of Gratallops in Priorat in Catalonia. This famous basement that gives mineral flavors so characterized with great finesse and exceptional elegance. Originally the area consisted of a small parcel of old vines Carignan, the rest was planted with Grenache, Syrah, a very small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre and Viognier. In 2000 during the second purchase the field has grown old Grenache and Carignan plots over 60 years. Christopher Cannan is advised by Alain Graillot, famous for its Hermitage based Syrah. The winery produces three wines of Priorat. Le Clos Figueres, produced only from old vines, is characterized by its elegance and finesse, Font de la Figuera and Serras del Priorat, both from younger vines, offer a nice introduction to Priorat.
