Chateau St. Jean is a pioneer in the designation of vineyard in Sonoma County - manufacture of wine from, and appointing him for an outstanding single vineyard. Since the fine wines and individual vineyards have been closely associated for centuries in Europe, the founders of Castle felt that the designation vineyard was also valid in Sonoma County. Shortly after its creation, the winery started producing private label Chardonnay Robert Young vineyards and Belle Terre.
