The bodegas was founded in 1972, the founders wanting the name lan to express what the rioja provinces (logroño, alava, navarra) represented in 1972. Bodegas lan is certainly one of the finest wineries in La Rioja. The 70-hectare estate, located near the river Ebro on the border between La Rioja and Alava, is mainly planted with tempranillo and mazuelo grapes. Lan's vineyards have been cultivated since Roman times. Lan is one of the pioneers of mixed casks, i.e., the walls of the casks are made of American oak, the lids of French oak from the Allier region, but Russian oak from the Caucasus is also used...
