The winemaker

The Loimer estate has been cultivating the magnificent terroirs of Austria's Kamptal region since 1962. Since 1998, Fred Loimer has been at the helm of the family estate. He carries on the tradition by enhancing the 4 terroirs (Dechant, Käferberg, Seeberg and Steinmassl) on which his 60-hectare vineyard is based. In love with his region, Fred Loimer decided to follow biodynamic principles in 2006. Today, he is one of Austria's leading winemakers, offering precise, fine and pure cuvées, with an unmistakable saline finish. Fred Loimer produces mainly dry white wines, based on Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The vineyard's continental climate produces grapes that are both concentrated in aroma and incomparably fresh. Fred Loimer's wines are often compared to those of Marc Kreydenweiss in Alsace and André Ostertag in the Jura, the undisputed masters of natural wines.
