Carmenére is ruby red in color, with intense aromas of blackberries, cherries, rhubarb and raspberries. There are also hints of olive, chocolate, vanilla and pepper. It has elegant spicy notes and is well-balanced overall. The vines are grown on the best terroir for carmenčre in rapel valley. The vines are hand-harvested, pressed and macerated for 15 days at 3şc to extract fruit and color. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at around 26-28şc, with malolactic fermentation taking place naturally in steel tanks. 30% of the wine is aged for 6 months in American and French oak before blending and bottling. Named in 1850 by christian lanz after his beloved wife, carmen is one of chile's oldest wineries. Since its takeover by ricardo claro in 1987, intensive investments have been made in new vineyards and winemaking techniques, facilities and experts, in order to produce only wines of the highest quality. Today, carmen owns 600 ha in chile's main wine-growing regions: maipo, rapel, casablanca and curicó valley. According to the renowned 'wine & spirits' magazine, carmen was repeatedly named 'winery of the year' in 2007. The individual wines also enjoy worldwide renown thanks to a large number of international awards. Carmen rediscovered the carmenčre grape variety in Chile in 1996 and has since been a pioneer in the cultivation of premium wines from this variety. Allergene:enthält sulfite, eiprotein
