This cuvée is a blend of 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre. This wine is perfect for sublimating a rare rib of beef or a 7-hour leg of lamb. With its aromas of cooked fruit and sweet spices, its harmonious, velvety mouthfeel, this expressive wine will improve with age!
The label pays tribute to Mireille's father, nicknamed "the lion" in his youth for his immense charisma. Matured partly in concrete vats and partly in barrels, this no-nonsense cuvée seduces with its exuberant bouquet of raspberry, morello cherry and nougat. Buoyed by freshness and melting tannins, the palate is soft, supple and easy to digest. A Châteauneuf on the gourmet side.

The old vines make all the difference compared to the entry-level wines. More powerful, more enchanting, well-balanced and very chewy. Still, it deserves a few more years in the cellar.

The appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Domaine Tour Saint Michel and its 3 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
