When Gérard Eyraud deems that a juice is not quite perfect, it is not included in his grand cuvées, and becomes a "simple" Vin de Pays. This is cause for rejoicing, as the standards set at the Rapatel estate are such that the first cuvée is already magnificent! Gourmet and charming, this Vin de Pays du Gard takes on the strict meaning of its appellation. Its warmth, cicadas and ripe grapes are clearly reminiscent of the land in which it grew up. A great seducer. The nose is divided between spring freshness and ripe, spicy, honeyed fruit. The first palate is fleshy and straightforward, giving way to fine balance and gentle acidity, ending on a few savory notes of apricot and quince. Delightful!
