The winemaker

The estate is located in the Bordeaux region, in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region, covering 30 hectares, 18.5 of which are currently planted with vines. It was in 1825 that Damien Confolan, a pit-sawyer by training, arrived from his native Auvergne, fell under the spell of the Bordeaux region and decided to settle there. For a number of years, he worked as a roadmender before realizing his dream of acquiring an estate in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards. And so, in 1850, he became the proud owner of La Loubière. In creating Château la Loubière, Damien Confolan and his son Barthélémy set out to produce a generous, racy wine that would blend perfectly with the gastronomy of their native region. In 1890, the estate expanded with the marriage of Barthélémy's daughter Marie Cofolan to Aristide Roux. A cooper and cellar master who owned the neighboring 10-hectare property. A marriage during which their love grew and their wine blossomed. Today, the 6th generation is at the helm of Château La Loubière with Patrick Teycheney and his parents Marie-Micheline Roux and André Teycheney. They have preserved this heritage by dedicating their lives to improving their vines and wines. The estate remains a family-run, independent and above all human-scale business, which has succeeded in combining traditional and modern methods of production and vinification. This guarantees the consistent quality of its wines, while preserving the traditional craftsmanship so dear to this ancestral profession. Mrs. Teycheney-Roux inherited this family history of know-how and passion from her grandfather, Aristide Roux, who explained to her when she was a child that "when you give love to the land and the vines, you always get it back in the form of a good wine". It's this same passion that she tries to pass on to her great-granddaughter, Jade, who enjoys watching the vines from the top of the 18th-century Chappe tower, restored in 2009.
