In a few words ...

Three generations of winemakers have worked this 8.5-hectare domaine in Chaintré, a small village in southern Burgundy between Mâcon and Beaujolais. philippe valette's father was the first farmer in the region to stop selling grapes to the cooperative and create his own domaine wine. After completing his oenology studies in 1990, Philippe made the decision to convert the vineyard to organic farming. The following two years were very difficult, as his preparation at school was far from the reality of organic farming. The estate has followed biodynamic principles since 1992. The natural balance of the soil and vines is at the heart of our concerns. Regular scratching of the soil and grassing encourage deep root system development. As a matter of principle, the estate does not subscribe to organic certification, since Philippe believes that "it is up to conventional growers to be transparent about their practices" and not up to him to prove that he works without chemicals. He has never wanted to pay to be free to work with living matter. Maison Valette's mesdemoizelles cuvée is made from Chardonnay vines over 75 years old.
