In a few words ...
At the foot of its high cliff, Saint-Romain occupies an elevated position on the Côte de Beaune. The landscape opens out into wide vistas. Frequented by bears and lions 100,000 years ago, this site has been home to active human settlements since the Neolithic period. It is one of the first Celtic and Gallo-Roman vineyard sanctuaries in Burgundy. Established in 1947, the Saint-Romain appellation d'origine contrôlée is made from red (pinot noir) and white (chardonnay) grapes. The climat (locality linked to terroir) is often indicated on the label. Red wines may be labelled côte de beaune after the village name, or côte de beaune-villages.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Pale gold with green highlights. On the nose, the full range of lime blossom and white flowers, with mineral accents. On the palate, it offers a good minerality that time rounds out, revealing a good mellowness.
