In a few words ...

Domaine de l'Ecu began its conversion to organic viticulture at an early stage. It was certified in 1975, then switched to biodynamic viticulture for its 24 hectares in 1998. Frédéric niger joined the domaine de l'écu in 2009. The previous owner, the emblematic biodynamist guy bossard, passed on his precious and precise knowledge of vines and wine until 2013. Since then, Frédéric has continued to work the vines organically and biodynamically, and to make his wines as naturally as possible. This is reflected in the fruit brightness and sincere aromatic openness of his unadorned wines. In addition to the flamboyant muscadets classic, granite, orthogneiss and taurus, the daring winemaker experiments with twenty-eight vin de france cuvées vinified in amphora. These truly living wines take us out of our gustatory comfort zone. Fred has renounced all technological artifice in the cellar to break with the trend towards standardization and preserve the link between each cuvée and its terroir and vintage. The domaine's wines are either free of added SO2, or sulphited to a minimum, out of conviction, with SO2 levels of around 30/40 mg/l, more than 2 times lower than the threshold authorized by French law.
