The winemaker

The History of Domaine Gayda

Domaine Gayda was built in 1749 to serve as a post house. It was a stopover where travelers would stop to stretch their legs, while the horses were changed so they could alternately rest. Over time, the Domaine Gayda has grown from a simple relay to a more luxurious property and has been enriched with vineyards. Today, it is a winery that offers a wine tourism experience, with a blending workshop, tasting, store and restaurant. Since 2004, owners Tim Ford and Anthony Record have partnered with winemaker Vincent Chansault to build a high-quality vineyard.

The terroir of Domaine Gayda

Domaine Gayda grows a variety of traditional Languedoc grape varieties. The most emblematic are Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. The geographical location and the climatic influences of the Atlantic are ideal for these two grape varieties. The Gayda Estate covers 4 distinct terroirs from the Languedoc to the Roussillon, which allows a great diversity of soils and therefore of wines. The parcel selections offer very different soils: limestone, sandstone, granite or schist.

The 4 terroirs of Domaine Gayda

Domaine Gayda
The terroir of Domaine Gayda culminates at an altitude of 200 meters. The soil is mostly composed of limestone sandstone. The orientation of the vines is south, southwest. The cultivated grape varieties are : Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Chenin, Sauvignon and Viognier.

La Livinière
The Livinière vineyards are located at an altitude of between 200 and 260 meters. The limestone soil slopes are exposed south, southwest. The grape varieties grown are: Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Carignan (Red) and Viognier.

Col de la Dona
Col de la Dona is located at 160 meters above sea level, facing south. This schist soil is dedicated to Syrah and Grenache.

Latour de France
The slopes of Latour de France rest on a gneiss soil, at an altitude of 280 meters. The Syrah, Grenache and Carignan (Red) grape varieties have southwestern exposure.

The wines of Domaine Gayda

Domaine Gayda wines include several lines: Villa Mon Rêve; Chemin de Moscou; Selection; Figure Libre; Figure Libre Freestyle; En Passant; La Minuette; Collection; T'Air d'Oc; Flying Solo.

La Minuette du Domaine Gayda - Rosé

Domaine Gayda's Minuette is made from 70% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah and 15% Grenache. The Minuette carries the values of the estate which is between tradition and modernity. This range takes its name from a variety of rose, called Minuette, that Tim Ford, one of the owners of Domaine Gayda, cultivated for 25 years in Kenya, Africa. This rosé wine has a beautiful freshness that emanates from the limestone terroir of La Livinière. Its color is pale, like the flesh of a pink grapefruit whose aromas it evokes.
