The jewel of the Languedoc region in southern France, the Cité de Carcassonne is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 13th century, this medieval city of international renown attracts millions of visitors every year. It is the magical setting for the famous July 14th fireworks display. The vineyards at the foot of this medieval fortress lie between the Pyrenean mountains to the south and the Montagne Noire to the north. It benefits from a Mediterranean climate tempered by altitude and oceanic influences from the Atlantic.
