Located in montlouis-sur-loire, domaine françois chidaine now covers 37 hectares. Chenin Blanc reigns supreme on the 20 hectares of Montlouis and 10 hectares of Vouvray. The vines, which thrive in over fifty parcels, have been farmed organically since 1992, and biodynamically since 1999. They are rooted in both flinty clay and clay-limestone soils, which impart a palette of nuances to the grapes. After starting out on the family estate as a farm hand, Francois decided in 1989 to set up with a few hectares of vines in Montlouis-sur-Loire. Convinced from the outset of the richness of the terroir, he cultivates each parcel specifically and produces a large number of cuvées. Aware that he had in his hands a unique natural heritage, it was also with this in mind that he became interested from the outset in growing vines organically, and then biodynamically. The estate grew step by step. In 1999, it covered 17 hectares. The following year, Manuéla joined him to open the domaine's tasting cellar, "La Cave Insolite", on the banks of the Loire in Montlouis.
