In a few words ...
Les frères soulier is the story of two brothers, sons of winegrowers. In 2014, in their thirties, charles and guillaume soulier returned to family traditions. After studying landscaping for one and business for the other, they bought 4 hectares of vines on their father's estate in the commune of saint hilaire d'ozilhan, in the gard region (south of the rhône valley), between nîmes and avignon. Then they bought another 2 hectares from neighboring winegrowers. And between 2015 and 2016, they planted 2 more (old, forgotten grape varieties such as counoise, picardan, terret noir, muscardin, vacaresse) to expand their vineyard to a total of 8 hectares. In the vineyard, the soil is worked (very, very lightly) with a horse, and goats and sheep take care of weeding the rows naturally. They only work the base of the vines; the in-between rows are grassed over and never ploughed. They also use a few herbal potions to boost their vines' immune systems, but without making biodynamics a religion. The appellation Vin de France (Rhône) is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Les Fréres Soulier and its 2 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
