In a few words ...

Morey-Saint-Denis is located in the Côte de Nuits, between Gevrey-Chambertin to the north and Chambolle-Musigny to the south. The production area covers 64.1 ha for the appellation Communale Morey-Saint-Denis and 44.2 ha for the AOC Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru. The vineyards of Morey-Saint-Denis produce almost exclusively red wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. This appellation bridges the gap between the masculine character of Gevrey-Chambertin and the feminine character of Chambolle-Musigny. The soils are brown limestone and clay, on hard Bathonian limestone, Upper Bajocian marl and stony scree. The wines display aromas of red and black fruits in their youth. The Premiers Crus develop more complex aromas, with spicy or animal nuances, and become fuller and more elegant with age.
