In a few words ...

The Hohrain or "high slope", like the Pfersigberg, consists of conglomeratic limestone from the Muschelkalk and Jurassic periods. It is located on the same hillside as this Grand Cru, but on its northeastern slope. This cooler situation makes it a truly ideal terroir for this precocious grape variety, as ripening is slower and acids are better preserved.
