The winemaker

The bodega was founded in 1775 in Lanzarote. 246 years of dedication to wine, making us the oldest winery in the Canary Islands and the fifth oldest in Spain. We're a family-run winery, and in good years we produce around 300,000 bottles a year; at present, production is highly irregular. This, which on the face of it can be a negative circumstance, also gives us value and helps us to better understand the market and the charm of our estate. Lanzarote is an island in the north-east of the Canary archipelago. Due to its location at 29º latitude, almost desert-like annual rainfall, low altitude and general climate, Lanzarote shouldn't have a vineyard, and that's mainly thanks to the work of our winemakers. As for water scarcity, volcanic ash (rofe, picon) forms a mineral mantle that filters water and slows evaporation. Man has solved the wind problem by walling off the vines, resulting in one of the world's most impressive vineyards.
