Situated at the foot of the Madeleine mountains, the 200 ha of the côte roannaise aop constitute one of the premier vineyards in the Loire valley. On the granitic foothills of the Massif Central, Gamay St Romain reaches heights of between 400 and 500 m. This volcanic loire also includes côtes du forez, côtes d'auvergne and saint-pourçain. The family estate dates back to the 17th century. It has been handed down from generation to generation ever since. The Sérol estate has been handed down from father to son for 5 generations. At each stage, the family has contributed to the evolution and development of the vineyard. In 1968, robert sérol took over the mixed farming operation. At the time, the vineyard - in a state of decline - covered just 2 ha. By dint of perseverance, robert sérol bought back plots and gained recognition for his terroir, which became known as côte roannaise. In 1996, when Stéphane took over, the estate grew to 12 ha. With the help of his wife, Carine, they converted the estate to organic and biodynamic farming. Very attached to the Côte Roannaise region, they have put some beautiful hillsides back into vineyards. This precision farming method uses only natural products that are only used in the vineyard.
