Magnificent Graves terroir located a cannon's throw from Bergheim's medieval fortifications. With its gravelly structure and marked water deficit in September, this terroir allows the grape skins to reach true ripeness when the vines are low and yields limited. In this way, the Engelgarten seal of approval takes precedence over that of the various grape varieties planted. A great, tight, fat, mineral white wine with a full, brilliant color, aromas of cooked pear and orange peel, enveloped in intense minerality. Like all Graves, Engelgarten has a characteristic warmth on the palate, with suave notes of ripe white fruit and a rigorous minerality on the finish, which opens out into a tight, well-crafted length. Like all white Graves, this wine is very easy to drink.
Appearance
Deep, blotchy color
Aroma
Incredible nose of hot stones, once you've passed the small impoundment. Smoke, rolled pebbles, steam after a rainstorm... gravel that smokes in the sun.
Taste
On the palate, a deep, powerful wine, stony, long and voluminous on the palate, with a rough, salivating finish. Aromas of pear and cooked orange peel.
