(14 customer reviews)
A Castillon located three rows of vines Grands Crus St Emilion, vinified by Mitjaville Louis, son of the famous owner of Tertre Roteboeuf. The area of 19 hectares consists of 85% Merlot and Cabernet Franc for the rest, on clay-limestone soils. Louis is specialized in the cultivation of Merlot. It keeps only the lowest clusters arrive, mature and are harvested at the same time. The Mitjaville leg is also a specific breeding with barrels manufactured and heated just for them. Find out more

The winemaker
The history of the estate
Domaine de l'Aurage is 22 hectares of vineyards in Côtes de Bordeaux in the Castillon. Bought in 2007 by Caroline and Louis "Loulou" Mitjaville, the vineyard is in the lineage of family farms with Tertre Roteboeuf, Roc de Cambes and Domaine de Cambes.
The vineyard
Located in the Libournais on the Côtes de Bordeaux, the terroir is made up of clay-limestone soils and benefits from a full southern exposure in a privileged geographical location.
On this terroir, 22 hectares of Merlot vines are cultivated with the mythical and unique know-how of the Mitjaville family and the innovative methods constantly renewed by this will to discover all the facets of the grape variety and interpret all the possible combinations.
Thus, we find methods at Roc de Cambes and Tertre Roteboeuf: high maturity of the grapes, maturation in new barrels from Radoux and of course, a unique cuvée per estate.
The wines
The resulting wines are thus powerful, strong, typified and consistent.
The estate's only cuvée, l'Aurage, stands out for its consistent and regular style with each vintage. Its purple-red color and nose as spicy as it is black fruit suggest a long, supple palate. The power and silky tannins of this vintage make it a perfect match for a nice piece of beef and potatoes sautéed in butter.
